People of Mass

"People of Mass"
Painting by Mando Padilla

This painting is an expressionism. The colorful background reminded me of a photo that I took in Boston Massachuesetts a few years ago. I didn't want to distract from the background too much so I went with solid black strokes. I kind of worked silhouettes with a knife to represent the different types of people I remembered from the trip. I was going to do a poem but didn't felt the painting was poetic enough. I also payed homage to the people of Salem, Hyannis and Falmouth on this piece.

Skeletons and Rucas

"Skeletons and Rucas"
Mi ruca, one of many
But I only need una
Pero, I prefer plenty
One per every luna

When one ruca upsets me
I get close to the other
And if one gets too bossy
I say "You're not my mother"

They all say that I'm lazy
That I'm a drunk huevon
I tell them that they're crazy
Cuz I broke their corazons

Valentino is on fire
Line up and pick a number
The number one desire
And not only to slumber

Skeletons and gigolos
My closet needs more marrow
Hand in hand with pimps and hos
I only seek dinero

I play cuz I like to share
Like puffing on a huca
If you have some cash to spare
You too can be my ruca

Poem and painting by Mando Padilla

"Skeletons and Rucas" is the painting of the day because everyday,
I dream of monsters.

Decisions Part II

"Decisions Part II"
Decisions I chase
With a stomache ache
In heels, I touch the sky

With buckles or lace
That curve like a snake
Confused but I don't know why

In flats or in heels
Depends on the while
I am on my feet or am not

In pain - how it feels
As I force a smile
Its worth it, as long as I'm hot
Poem and painting by Mando Padilla

"Shoes 1I" is the painting of the day because everyday,
I dream of monsters.

Decisions

"Decisions"
In curls or straight strands
Draped wet or frizzled dry
Barrettes or head bands
Blow dry or iron fry

And like her shoes
She will decide quick
Even though decisions
Make her sick

Poem and painting by Mando Padilla

"Shoes 1" is the painting of the day because everyday,
I dream of monsters.

Panic

"Panic"
Lausenges vaporize from my eyes
I see through coldness
Her eyelids, warm
Heard the coulds' zephyrs' friction
Then felt sweat on my tongue
Relief kicked a grimace
I thrust fear into my lungs
Then exhaled

I rolled her coffee stained napkin
over my eyelids
She pecked her work of art

The bloodclot on my neck
My pen leaked
She drank the ink
In a panic

Poem by and acrylic "expressionism" on canvas by Mando Padilla
